At Charleville-Mézières, near the Place Ducale, Pauline Doillon has renovated an apartment that sleeps four. An interior designer, she decided to use upcycled furniture and fittings.
Completely in sync with how families live, she aims to show by experience that environmentally friendly behaviour doesn't diminish the pleasure of a short break. Refillable Nespresso capsules, a bike for getting around, bulk-bought food and cleaning products...Simple, efficient and inspiring.
On the terrace is a wicker nesting box, supplied by the LPO bird sanctuary, to welcome birds and promote bio-diversity in the city centre. Calming.
Located within easy reach of all the city's tourist attractions, guests can explore on foot or by bike. For enjoyable meals, Pauline recommends that you cross the street to visit Marithé, at the Bistrot des Chineurs, or walk a few more yards to Chez Georges. Both offer selected produce, a short menu and guaranteed home-made quality.
Showing by experience that environmentally friendly behaviour doesn't diminish the pleasure of a short break.

Gram, the zero-waste grocer's
Located close to the Place Ducale, the Gram grocer's shop sells all its goods in bulk and offers advice on achieving zero-waste. Pauline Doillon shops here for cleaning products, tea and coffee. It's thus completely to be expected that guests who stay in her gîte will come to explore this Ali Baba's cave of environmentally friendly products, and to buy some. It offers not only food and cleaning products, but also storage containers and utensils that make using bulk zero-waste products easier. From the kitchen to the bathroom, and also including childcare, petcare and home-decorating products. Also a source of great gifts to take home with you!
This shop takes customer service to the maximum: customers can drop off their empty containers and shopping lists and then continue shopping nearby, before coming back to pick up their shopping that has been packed to their requirements. Simply the best!
