Bouillon

Bouillon, situated on the banks of the Semois, will delight tourists who love history and nature. The magnificent castle, set on a craggy rock, was the home of Godefroid de Bouillon before he set off on the Crusades. This is not the only link between history and Bouillon. The castle’s story spans a millennium: it’s the oldest vestige of feudalism in Belgium and one of the most remarkable fortresses in Europe. A journey through time can be supplemented by a visit to the Ducal Museum and the Archeoscope.

The Botanical and geographical arboretum of Bouillon

Created in 1906, this geographical and botanical arboretum stretches over 2 hectares and features 150 different species (native and exotic combines, hardwoods and softwoods).

La brasserie de Bouillon and Le marché de Nathalie

La Brasserie de Bouillon specialises in making its own beers - a range of 4 unfiltered brews, with a second in bottle fermentation - the Cuvée de Bouillon and the Médiévale, for example.

The guided tour of the site will show you how these craft beers are made and of course give you the opportunity to taste them. They are on sale on site should you want to take a few back home.

Le Marché de Nathalie is a shop fully dedicated to beer with no less than 350 Belgian brews features on its shelves. Most are traditionnally made and the Brasserie de Bouillon's creations (La Cuvée de Bouillon, La Médiévale, La Bouillonnaise, La Blonde de Bouillon, la Noire Fontaine and La Vauban with, around Christmas, La la Saison des Chasses - lager or amber)

the Ducal Museum

Near the castle of Godefroid de Bouillon, the Ducal Museum overlooks the Semois and occupies two listed buildings dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.

The most recent of the two buildings is the former residence of Nicolas-Joseph Spontin, Counselor at the Sovereign Court of Bouillon in the 18th century. The oldest, called "House of the Bouillonnais Government" served as housing for officers of the castle, as for example, Lieutenant Vernes.
