Memorial to the battle of Sadzot
On the night of 27 to 28 December 1944, elements of the 12. SS-Panzer-Division and the 2. SS-Panzer-Division “Das Reich” launched an attack here in an attempt to take the road leading to Erezée.This battle cost the lives of two civilians from the hamlet and an unknown number of American soldiers who were part of the following units: 509th PIR (Parachute Infantry Regiment), 3rd Armoured Division, 75th Infantry Division and 87th Mortar Battalion. This episode of the Battle of the Bulge was the last offensive attempt by the “Das Reich” Panzerdivision, which had suffered heavy losses in the fighting at Manhay and Grandmenil.Further information: The attack on the village of Sadzot
