While the ascent of the Thier de Limbourg takes you to the old western rampart of the sleeping fortress where the view of the Dolhain Viaduct is unrestricted, the old Verviers road plunges you into another adventure at the place called "Broux". Here the Vesdre, a favourite haunt of our heron friends, flows through the Lonhian countryside. The Bois Madame riding school invites you to climb the slope and its schistose soil towards the Comagnes farm and the Sainte-Anne chapel.

On the Halloux ridge, the path offers fantastic views of the Bovegnée valley and the aqueduct, a work of art that recalls the construction of the Gileppe dam. Nature surrounds you and leads you gently towards Mr Peutat's farm, "Goé glaces". You have to wait a little longer for the reward and continue the walk along the tree-lined path and meadows that leads back to the old capital.

Be careful not to miss the signpost! The way to go is a very small path downhill through the wood on your right. Be careful not to fall. This last effort allows you to reach the old Dolhain road which runs alongside the Vesdre and to discover, on the footbridge, the old buildings from the textile era.

  • If you are a good walker and you are not afraid of steep hills, this walk is for you! Following the old connecting roads, which have now become stony and steep paths, this route crosses different landscapes that have been modified for the needs of human history.
