The Commune of Sombreffe has a very rich industrial past: marble quarry, sugar factory, tannery,... an exceptional architectural and historical heritage: feudal castle, Roman road and Gallo-Roman remains and the site of the battle of Ligny closely linked to the battlefield of Waterloo and the "Route Napoléon en Wallonie".
The creativity, dynamism and innovation generated by Visit Sombreffe offers visitors several interesting tourist attractions.
Memorial Tourism invites visitors to enter the history of the Battle of Ligny, 16 June 1815. The Ligny 1815 Museum offers 7 rooms in an authentic setting and thousands of objects and weapons that were used in the battle. Napoleon's last victory at Ligny has left many traces in our villages, a walk will allow you to assault the battlefield from Visit Sombreffe. It is not uncommon to meet a legendary Grognard busy tending to a weapon from another age!
