UNESCO Global Geopark Famenne-Ardenne : Geotrail of Beauraing

Begin your walk around Beauraing by walking through the Parc du Castel with its castle perched on the heights of the Calestienne, looking down across the town and the Famenne depression. Once you have left behind the town centre, its narrow lane and the site of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary, the rest of the trail continues along the limestone strip. This trail will take you to unusual geosites such as the Neuville travertine and the Martouzin take-off area. The final part of the trail follows a pretty GR footpath between the fields and the wall of the Parc de Castel.

Promenade de Walzin

The first half of the circuit is more natural and wooded, and will make you discover first the castle of Walzin (which cannot be visited) and then the Roche à la Chandelle.
Enjoy a moment of rest at the water's edge before tackling the second part, which is more rural with very beautiful landscapes.
Near Falmagne, you will find the Caracole brewery which brews beers as in the old days, on a wood fire in large copper vats. Don't hesitate to stop there to have a drink (or a few) on the terrace or follow the guided tour.

Le Sicou

Beautiful walk along the Meuse river at the border of Belgium and France.
Ideal place to observe the birds along the Meuse.
A bit of climbing too, but the view is worth it.
You pass by the vacation village of Massembre, an estate of 140 ha, of which 120 ha are wooded. Ideal for a stay in the countryside, many sports possibilities, adventure course, playground, accommodation for families, groups and schools.
Not far from the village of Heer, along the river Meuse, is Les Sorbiers, a hotel with a very good restaurant. "En face de l'île" offers refined dishes and is cooked with local products from a peasant, local or organic agriculture. Some of the products are harvested directly from the natural vegetable garden and the beehives of Les Sorbiers.

Le Côré Monseu

A walk through fields, woods and winding paths. Beautiful views over the Meuse and the surroundings of Givet are offered to you. Before returning to the village, you will walk along the limestone lawn of Kokiamont, a site where you can observe uncommon plants, such as the black doradilla, the Chartreux carnation and the leaning silene. The local fauna includes various interesting species, especially solitary bees. Due to its high biological interest, this forest slope has been included in the Natura 2000 network for the most part.

Chemin des Crêtes

Superb 100% off-road course for the most athletic
Start from the Place Roger Bodart and head towards the church. Drive about 500m on the road to leave the village and then you won't find any tarmac until you arrive. The path that goes down to the woods offers you a beautiful view. When you meet the GR125, the most difficult part of the trail starts: a long steep slope with a few strides over fallen trees. The GR trail will then take you down to the Meuse River which you will walk along for 2 km. Take advantage of this moment of respite because a second ascent to the Colèbi nature reserve awaits you.At the top, you will be rewarded for your efforts by two viewpoints that you can enjoy while sitting on a bench.
Halfway through the walk, you will arrive on the left bank of Waulsort. You have the possibility to take the "Passeur d'eau", the last manual water crossing in Belgium, to go to the right bank, to walk in the center of the village.
Ideal to do with your dog because he can refresh himself in the waterfalls and there are very few roads with traffic.

Le Drapeau: Château-Thierry

The departure of this walk is on the right bank, at the Pavillon du passage d'eau. To reach it, there are two options: on board the ferry boat of the "passeur d'eau" (what an adventure) or via the footbridge of the dam. This walk starts with a beautiful ascent by the Crétias path, used in the past by the inhabitant of Falmignoul to reach the Waulsort station in order to go to Dinant by train (1871). We discover the state reserve of Crétias and the Thierry Castle (or what remains of it). It belongs to the Walloon Region and is unfortunately forbidden of access. At the top, a breathtaking view on Waulsort, its old hotels, its villas and its houses awaits us. It is at this place that we discover the best the old abbey. We leave the plateau to go back to the wood and walk through the boxwoods. However, be careful with the risks of slipping. After your walk, why not take a well-deserved break at the Panama Rio located on the banks of the Meuse.
