The village of Virelles lies in the valley of Eau Blanche, and its history is strongly linked to it. Until you reach Vaulx, walk along charming little roads and go deep into Blaimont wood. Given the shaly nature of the soil, Virelles forest is entirely populated with deciduous trees, mainly oak and beech. The Trou des Sarrazins, a crack that formed millions of years ago, already existed in the neolithic era. At that time, the waters deposited stones containing iron ore. This was called ‘Sarrazin’ by the people of Virelles, and fed the foundries of Virelles. In the 18th century, the hole stopped being mined.
