Balade des Moulins (Walk of the mills)

Via the old Longpré mill and the village of Lescheret, visit Volaiville, with its two nature reserves and two mills.
Four old mills line this route. The Moulin de Chêne, whose first records date back to 1586, is located 200 metres upstream from the starting point. 1.5 km further on, the Longpré mill, built in 1852, has now been converted into an art gallery. You will enter the village of Volaiville by discovering the "small mill" and you will leave it by following the "big mill". The latter is probably more recent than the former. Its cellars date from the 15th century. The wheels of these mills were used for grinding grain, oil presses and sawmills.
Before and after Volaiville, the route overlooks the Géronne nature reserve. Natagora is the owner and has established a management plan in partnership with local farmers. Cows or hardy horses graze these wet meadows in order to avoid their reforestation and to allow a remarkable and threatened fauna and flora to flourish.
Before reaching Chêne at the bottom of the valley, the place called Jalifè, culminating at 503 metres, will offer you a panorama characteristic of the Central Ardennes: meadows, groves and small valleys.
