Following the Quatre-Ponts nature reserve, you will reach the mill of the same name, which has now disappeared.
The wet meadow at Quatre-Ponts is part of a large group of valley bottoms in the Haute-Sûre catchment area that have been set up as nature reserves by Natagora. These plots of land intended for the conservation of biodiversity are linked together by a network of waterways protected by the Natura 2000 decree, thus encouraging the movement and genetic mixing of populations of birds, insects, etc. Hedges, copses and flowering roadsides along this walk also contribute to the proper functioning of this ecological network.
The 2.6 ha of the "Quatre-Ponts" reserve are home to, among others, the peacock butterfly and the bistort copper, two emblematic butterflies of the Ardennes that are threatened at the European level due to the disappearance of their habitat. Their caterpillars only develop by eating the leaves of the bistort knotweed, a plant typical of wet meadows.
