Le parfait terrain de jeu pour ceux qui adorent arpenter les chemins. En forêt, à travers champs, en ville, le long de l'eau ou sur des crêtes rocheuses, il y en a pour tous les niveaux.

The current octagonal building dates from the second half of the 18th century and would replace (probably identically) a first chapel erected in 1594. The chapel was erected following the battle of 1578 which pitted the troops of Don Juan of Austria against the army of the insurgents of the Spanish Netherlands (our former regions). The insurgents fought against the absolutism of Philip II, King of Spain and son of Charles V, who wanted to impose Catholicism on the entire region. The chapel was therefore built to commemorate this battle and especially the patriotic values carried by it.

The Arton and 'la Large Eau'

The Arton is a stream which, in the Middle Ages, served as a boundary between the between the duchy of Brabant and the county of Namur. This boundary was disputed for centuries. La Large Eau is a place name that comes from the pronounced widening of the stream at this point.
