1.  La Roche à 7 heures

Spring is the best time to take the road to the "Rock at 7 o'clock" in Monthermé. There's a fabulous, uninterrupted view over the green valley and the almost geometrically perfect loop in the Meuse. The pine forest path makes the site look even more like the stuff of legends. The uphill walk is really worth the effort thanks to the many viewpoints along the way. The whole family can do the 2 1/2 hour walk along the ridge from the village centre.

Freyr and the Meuse valley

2.  Freyr and the Meuse valley

In spring and summer, you're likely to come across some climbers, who gather in their dozens in the vicinity of Freyr rock. You'll soon understand why, as the view over the Meuse valley is even more breathtaking at this unspoilt location. There's an easy little path up to the viewpoint and the old turret. To the right, you can take in the splendour of Freyr castle and its natural maze, a sight to delight any photographer!

  Access: Via Avenue Général Hodges in Anseremme for the viewpoint. Via Rue de Coteaux for the riverside path.

3.  The Jambon de la Semois viewpoint
in Namur's little Switzerland

From this viewpoint, the 2-kilometre loop of the Semois unfolds in all its untouched splendour. The green hues of the treetops across the undulating landscape are an invitation to lose yourself in the Bohan-Membre national park.

4.  On the road to Diekirch, a castle

Treat yourself to the ultimate castle landscape! The view of Vianden Castle is always a key feature, whether surrounded by greenery in summer or covered in snow in winter.

  Access: On Rue de Diekirch, stop near the Belvedere hotel and restaurant to reach the viewpoint.

5.  The beautiful Liry viewpoint and Haulmé

Here, the French Semoy valley is at its most beautiful, offering flower-filled landscapes and, in the distance, the typical little village of Haulmé. The view is full of poetic charm.

  Access: From Haulmé, take the road that climbs up to Bogny, where you'll find a car park. Then just follow the earth track for 700 metres.

Giant's Tomb

6.  The Giant's Tomb

This is undoubtedly the most photogenic and the most legendary of views in Belgian Luxembourg. Simply breathtaking. The River Semois makes a loop here, encircling the hill that's shaped like an ancient tomb. Legend has it that the Gallic giant from Trèves chose to throw himself off the rock to avoid being captured by the Romans.

  Access: The viewpoint is on Rue de Châtaumont, in Botassart. Nearby you'll find the Relais du Géant restaurant.

7.  The Hautes Fagnes region, the eastern gem

For hectare upon hectare, the Hautes Fagnes landscapes are an inspiration to walkers who come from afar to follow these photogenic timber walkways. Directions are well indicated. Between the impressive pinewoods, traces of the fire of a few years ago give the site a mystical atmosphere.

La Roche aux Faucons

8.  La Roche aux Faucons

Just 15 minutes from Liège, you'll be soothed by the unspoilt view of "Falcon Rock", the rocky spurs dominating the Ourthe valley. The site is popular among cycling enthusiasts and fans of the "Liège-Baston-Liège" race.

9.  Haute Sûre Lake panoramic viewpoint

The glass overhang offers a dizzying view over Haute-Sûre lake. The beautiful path up takes you through the dreamlike Burfelt forest. Unrivalled romanticism, whatever the season.
