Nature park Hautes Fagnes - Eifel
The reputation of the oldest nature park in Wallonia is well established! Nicknamed "Savane of the Ardennes" by photographer Franck Renard, the Hautes Fagnes region is without a doubt one of the most enchanting settings in the Nature Park.
A diversity of landscapes: fagnes, large forests, valleys ...
However, other less known landscapes will seduce the visitors in search of calm and serenity, as for example the majestic forest of the Hertogenwald (literally "ducal forest"), the hilly landscapes of the Belgian Eifel and its 100 villages picturesque, or the mysterious valleys encircled around the Our, without forgetting the magic of its lakes and dams.
Rich fauna and flora
The Hautes Fagnes nature reserve is home to the very latest Belgian black grouse population. This unusual bird has long been a symbol of the Hautes Fagnes - Eifel Nature Park. Other parts of the Park are home to royal kites, black storks, and other large, easily sighted birds with binoculars. You can also find some curiosities among the flora of the Natural Park. Drosera, for example, are carnivorous plants typical of wetlands. In April, go to the Eifel to discover daffodils by the thousands!
