Set in an 8-hectare estate on the banks of the River Meuse, Château Le Risdoux generates discreet pleasure. Majestically simple, the castle has become comfortable accommodation for groups.

Renovated with the twin objectives of preserving its authenticity and complying with strict modern environmental standards, it has been reunited with its original materials. Timber and stone have now returned to the seventeenth-century building. Holidays, seminars, weddings and family events are held in its unusual setting.

Six gîtes now nestle in the outbuildings that have also been restored. Families and groups of friends come here to get away from it all. For a total disconnection from the outside world, ‘Survival’ and ‘Parents-children’ packages, with a guide-leader are available to help you learn how to live in the depths of the countryside.

Local produce takes pride of place in the shop, at breakfast and at receptions. Bikes provided by the local Caravel de Revin association are available for hire. A perfect way to enjoy the cross-border Ardennes in all simplicity.

Bisou Butterfly ('Butterfly Kiss') is an artisan children's clothing studio that uses bright, sparkly colours. The designer Alisa has been doing her dream job here for 15 years: "Calm and Nature are never-ending sources of inspiration". She buys her textiles in Europe in small quantities, to preserve the unique nature of her clothes. Alisa produces two main ranges: for new-born infants and early-years toddlers, plus zero-waste accessories. Her washable coated covers are much in demand, as are her cloth wipes: "Ecological, simple and practical, without forgetting aesthetics".

Bisou Butterfly has an online shop on the Etsy creative platform. Alisa's products can also be found in some local shops that promote locally-made goods, including La Petite Épicerie at Vireux-Wallerand, L’Apostrophe at Revin, La Boutique ardennaise at Charleville-Mézières, La Gare du Terroir at Douzy and Le Franco-Belge at Givet.
