La Grange d'Ychippe

Valérie Van Heer Nagant

Valérie Van Heer Nagent tries to ensure that her every action in her gîte that sleeps 12 reduces her environmental impact. And she transmits this philosophy to her guests, even before their arrival.

Your hosts welcome you

Recommending using natural soap to protect the lagooning water treatment system. Offering babycare equipment to her guests to encourage them to share cars. Filling the gîte's fridge with local produce ordered from the village co-op online in advance by her guests…

Here, sorting rubbish is fun: organic waste is fed to the hens when checking for eggs and plastic bottle tops are saved for collection in aid of disabled people, for example. As well as providing her guests with containers so hey can go zero-waste shopping, guests can ask Valérie to introduce them to this type of shopping at local shops. And, on request, she can organise a zero-waste workshop for all the family.

The large garden is shared by the owners and their guests and is an excellent place to meet and chat. Welcome, Encounter, Share.

Valérie recommends: Cocoricoop, minimum food miles co-op

Cheese, meat, ice cream, fruit and vegetables, coffee, bread, eggs, beer and even cosmetics… The fruits of the labours of around twenty men and women involved in local family agriculture that respects the environment. It's sold at a reasonable price for consumers, a fair price for the producers. There's no need to run from one farm to another, all the products are available through a single distribution channel: order online, then collect from one of the seven pick-up points around the region. Easy Fast. Fresh.

Covering Ciney, Somme-Leuze, Hamois, Havelange, Assesse, Gesves and Ohey, in the Condroz namurois region, the Cocoricoop co-op offers consumers an alternative to conventional supermarkets, making it easier to choose minimum food miles and fairtrade. A way of working that's in sync with the expectations of today's consumers.

The range of goods offered reflects the richness and vitality of the land.
