The Post-coach inn at Launois-sur-Vence dates back to 1654. It's one of the last surviving traces of the horse-drawn transport era and is a listed historical monument.

Les Sabots du Relais - Stéphanie Bosserelle looks after the horses

Since March 2020, this remarkable place has rediscovered what it was built for: horses. Through the “Les Sabots du Relais” association, chaired by Jocelyne Salles. Their presence ensures activity all year round. On the one hand there's the breaking-in and training of the horses in harnessed teams, and on the other hand there are carriage rides.

Themed carriage rides in five-seater carriages pulled by strong Ardennes draught horses. The rides last from between 40 minutes to a whole day: you can explore Launois-sur-Vence, Golden Lion Farm or the Warnécourt cider farm, with a tasting session, learn about the flora and fauna of the pre-Ardennes ridges, enjoy a surprise picnic or ride along the paths of the park of the Château de Guignicourt, followed by a meal in the hunting lodge…

Jocelyne recommends: Warnécourt cider farm

Slate-limestone soil and a semi-continental climate. Preserved traditional-variety cider apple trees. Eight hectares of orchards and fifteen hectares of cereals. Perpetuating traditional know-how. A family business. Warnécourt cider farm, near Launois-sur-Vence, has been pressing apples since 2004. Production, processing and distilling is all done in-house. Cider and apple juice, of course, but also aperitifs such as cider ratafia, Cerisette and Poiré. Liqueurs and eaux de vie. Spirits too, branded O’Canel, including Ardennes gin, Vodbroska (a type of vodka) and Ardennes whisky, currently under development.

The members of the team like to meet customers at the farmers' markets at Launois-sur-Vence, Renwez and Charleville-Mézières, but they also welcome visitors to the orchard and production centre, so they can tell them about their passion and their work. Visits finish with a tasting session… Gourmandise, wisdom and moderation.
